Today, we go through the Hobbywing’s MAX5 Ezrun 1/5 200A ESC and show you just what a beast of an ESC it is!


The massive MAX5 ESC comes packaged in the same sturdy box that Hobbywing use for all of their ESC’s.


Taking out the contents, it comes will all required items to install this ESC into your car and/or truck! Also includes one more power cable for people who want to connect two battery packs to this ESC. The only thing that’s missing are battery connectors. Sometimes this is a convenience as everyone seems to have their own preference when it comes to battery connectors. Hobbywing also elected to not include motor plugs in the connector wires to give users to install what they’re using at the moment onto the cables!DSC05893

A 40mm fan situated in a integrated fan protection construct will protect this fan from all you throw at it in a bashing sessions! Industry standard 6.5mm bullect connectors on the front side of the ESC for you to connect to your motor. This esc comes with beefy 8 gauge wire, which will definitely handle the high currents and voltages in 1/5 vehicles!

Taking the same design as the MAX5’s smaller 1/10 brothers, the switch features the set switch built in. However this switch has been packaged in a waterproof casing to deal with the harsh conditions!

A nice feature of the MAX5 is that Hobbywing understand the fact that people using this ESC will be using a large cell count pack, and thus there is the danger of the packs sparking on connecting. Thus Hobbywing are dealing with this by introducing an anti-spark system which is said to help prevent people from burning fingers!

We have definitely heard of adjustable BECS on different ESCS, however being able to deliver a whopping 25 Amps is a first! By combining 7.4V and 25 A in a bec, this will ensure you’re large, power hungry servos will be able to perform at their peak!

Only downfall of this ESC, is that it is only capable of running in sensorless mode only, other than that this will be the ESC to have if you’re a owner of big scale rc!
