Serpent had introduced Cobra SRX8 GTe LWB 1/8 Electric On-Road Kit Designed specifically for the more realistic, licensed bodies that look like full-scale racing cars, the LWB version of the GTe uses the same proven suspension geometry and drivetrain, while the updated battery mounting position provides even better weight distribution, allowing for multiple LiPo configurations whilst enhancing the handling performance.
Let’s check out it now!
The core of the chassis is a 7075-T6 aluminum main that utilizes the minimum possible kick-up angle to comply with ROAR and IFMAR rules while aluminum suspension mounts ensure very wide caster angle, toe, and anti-squat adjustments. Additional roll center shims further increase the setting range while black and silver all-aluminum bulkheads, center diff mounts, motor mount, and motor plate create a very sturdy chassis backbone. The overall design enables the racer to extract the front and rear differentials as well as the center spool in a matter of seconds while allowing for four different differential height positions.
Also new is an adapted and updated steering system originally found on the SRX8 off-road cars. Optimized for the lower caster angles and offering a low center of gravity the steering system also utilizes the existing Ackermann plates minimizing the needs for new parts. Part of the steering assembly is also a new 1-piece steering servo mount made of high-quality aluminum. Part of the chassis assembly is a new carbon fiber top deck construction that offers symmetrical flex characteristics while the dual battery compartments allow for easy battery mounting using hook and loop straps. Other features include bearing-supported anti-roll bars, pre-drilled weight balance mounting holes, adjustable rear arm lengths, insert-supporting lower arms, as well as 16mm shock absorbers, a rear diffuser and also fully adjustable body mounts.
