DTJ Dakky & Michael Zorzin wrote a review of the Xpress GripXero D1 1/10 RWD Drift Car.
Let’s check out it now!
Xpress GripXero D1 is packaged in a small little black box.
Nice organized in small bags and printed manual for the build.
We assembly chassis in a few days.
Here is some information about it.
Rear toe can be changed by a turnbuckle. Also, the upper arms are built by the turnbuckle so you can change camber and caster by them, but the position on the rear makes hard to make fast setup changes, upper arms have only one position on the chassis.
Chassis is coming with the solid rear axle and gear differential so you can install what you prefer.
The gear diff is made all in plastic: corp, gears, and his cross shaft.
The transmission is composed of 2 identical gears to change rotation and a belt.
For spur gear we use Axon 90T/48P, pinion is 22T/48P from Yeah Racing.
Chassis has a very interesting design.
Combination of red alu parts and carbon are so good.
It has a nice 2 plates where install ESC and Gyro and you can move the position on the slide on the upper deck.
We like IFS suspension mode too, have a nice function and give more attractiveness to chassis.
Assembly going well, all parts are made very good.
Little upgrade for future on our GripHero D1 is changed screw from BLACK to RED.
Little upgrade and chassis will be more attractive.
Yeah Racing Aluminum 7075 3x8mm Hex Socket Button Head Screws 10pcs Red #AHP-308RD
It can be done in a day, but we only have a few hours free time in day to assembly it.
Test of Chassis:
We doing test on our track DTJ Lounge.
Small local and first one track for RC drifting in Croatia.
The surface is carpet.
First, we add electronic and stealth body mounts on chassis.
Also, we prepared bodyshell for it.
So we tried it with setup out of the box. Gear diff with his 5000cst oil, the car was a bit unstable
I found a lot of plays on steering, caused by the combination of ball studs and ball cups, only on steering.
Maybe is a problem of only this chassis or maybe not so I will replace them as soon as possible.
To try it now without all those plays I put a piece of Teflon tape.
We made small changes to makes camber, caster and toe angles the same between left and right. The car starts to go in the right direction!
After that I changed the oil on dumpers, I put 200 in front and 250 in rear, the original was 450 for all.
The front steering setup works very well after added Teflon tape.
I changed also rear dumper position from the center to the second inner hole on shock tower (on lower arms it have only one position).
I changed rear toe to 4 degrees in.
After only those small changes on original setup, the car runs pretty good on this track.
